The rulebook has little mention of the need for training for
public transport personnel; this is a major reason for the poor
service delivery on the part of autorickshaw, taxi and bus
drivers.
We have developed a two-day initial training
programme. Every member driver will be put through this
programme, followed by one-day refresher training course every
quarter.
- How to maximize earnings by doing away with refusals
altogether
- How to earn more without resorting to overcharging
- How to earn
more money and respect by looking smart
- Lane driving, proper parking and road safety aspects
- Vehicle
maintenance techniques
- Benefits of professional driving training through
specialized institutes
- Legal rights and obligations of drivers
- Responsible citizenship
- How to prepare for a financially secure and better
future
- Getting rid of alcohol, drugs and tobacco
A healthy spirit of competition ensures faster improvement of
the service. The performance of every member-driver is monitored
regularly and points are awarded. These points, in due course of
time, get converted into stars. A disciplined and responsible
driver can earn all three stars in 24 months.
Training material and content has been fully developed in-house.
Training for the first batch was provided in a hall at IIT,
Delhi and at a flat in Rohini, Delhi. Basic training facility
has now been created within our office premises where upto 30
persons can be accomodated.
Delhi Traffic Police has also now agreed to put their
facilities at our disposal for the purpose of training of
member-drivers.
